Manchester Aquatics Centre
Ardwick, Manchester
A flagship refurbishment scheme, Manchester Aquatics Centre, which was purpose built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, comprised of the updating and improvement of the existing building to enable increased foot traffic and changes in structure of use of the same.
Requirements
Hygienic and waterproof doors were needed for the facilities close to swimming pools, changing rooms, health suite, fitness suites and café.
Outcome
Lami Doors UK Ltd, working alongside Kier Construction Ltd/MJS Joinery Ltd provided product knowledge and project management experience before manufacturing and supplying hygienic and water resistant LAMI GRP doors. Thanks to their seamless design, LAMI doors withstand decades of daily exposure to water, moisture and cleaning agents. The doors do not swell, rot or rust, ensuring they remain beautiful and functional for years.
Following the phased refurbishment, the building reopened for full use in June 2023 and has since hosted the Para Swimming World Championships.
