Karolinska University Hospital is, with its more than 16 000 coworkers, one of the major employers in the city of Stockholm. As compared to many other hospitals, it excels particularly in the areas of AI, robotics and telemedicine and is ranked amongst the world’s top 10 hospitals when it comes to readiness to use new technologies. The hospital receives approximately 1,4 million unique patient visits per year. 

In 2018 an extension to its premises in Huddinge, Stockholm, the so called “O-house”, was made. It gave 29,000 square meters of new and modern treatment environments. Formerly known with project name Chopin, the facility has now 23 operating rooms and a new X-ray department. 

Requirements

As part of the project, hygienic x-ray and fire doors were needed for different sections of the hospital, such as the new sterile technology department and eight intervention rooms. 

Outcome

Lamidoors AB, working alongside Skanska Sverige AB, gave valuable knowledge and support before providing specialist hygienic X-ray and fire rated GRP Doors from the KRS range, on a supply and delivery basis. In total 80+ LAMI hygienic GRP doors were delivered within six separate deliveries in 2018.
