The Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is an old and well-known animal rescue centre for dogs and cats. The centre was established in Holloway, London, in 1860 and then later moved to Battersea in 1871. The concept behind the center is to rescue dogs and cats until their owner or a new one can be found. Today Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has three centres in the UK and are employing more than 500 employees. The centre cares for an average of 240 dogs and 145 cats across the three centres at one one time. The charity has rescued more than 3.1 million dogs and cats during its history. 

Requirements

Internally the scheme comprised of the refurbishment of 109 rehoming kennels and 16 cat pens. Additionally, ancillary rooms, staff areas and a remodelled reception area were built adjacent to one of seven Victorian railway arches to form the new public entrance.
